Requests in MEX

The Request module of MEX is used in conjunction with Work Orders. This module allows personnel to send requests to the Maintenance Department for work to be done. The Maintenance Department may then raise Work Orders from these requests, and subsequently the requester can check the status of his request.

Maintenance Requests are useful from a maintenance perspective as it allows the maintenance manager to determine which requests are worthy of Work Orders. It also allows for authorisation before any maintenance work is to be done. If the request is not authorised it cannot become a Work Order.

The Maintenance Requests Process

The Maintenance Request process is as follows:

  1. A user enters a Maintenance Request into MEX by:
    • Entering the Request directly into MEX, through the main application of the mobile application.
    • Using the MEX Ops web page.
  2. A notification of the Maintenance Request is emailed to the person’s required to Approve the Request.
  3. The Request cab be Approved or Declined by an authorised user by either:
    • Tapping on the Approve or Decline link in the Notification email
    • Approving or Declining the Request in the Requests module of MEX.
  4. Once the Request is Approved, a Work Order can be generated for the job, or the Request can be attached to an existing Work Order.
  5. The Work Orders is completed by the maintenance staff as per usual.
  6. When the Work Order is closed off to History, the Request will automatically close itself off as completed. The person that created the Request can be automatically notified by email.

Regardless of whether the requester uses the Requests module in MEX, MEX app or MEX Ops to enter their Request, they can easily check on the progress of their request by simply opening the request list and viewing their request. This saves them having to contact the Maintenance Department directly to follow up on any maintenance work that they requested and allows the maintenance department to get on with maintenance.
